Gorgeous in Gray

Sometimes, on our walks, we pass a house so lovely that we stop and take a photo and do the research later.

That’s what happened here, as we were cruising around Lexington, Mass., near the Battle Green and Old Burying Ground. Built in 1897, this was house to Dr. J. Odin Tilton, a well-respected Lexington physician, who had his office and waiting room in a small east end addition.

Tilton was an antiquarian, bird watcher and an enthusiastic member of the Lexington Gun Club.

We’re in love with all the triple window sections at the top, and the rounded sections and that gorgeous porch. As the people on HGTV’s House Hunters always say, “I could see myself out here drinking coffee and reading the newspaper.” šŸ˜„

The 5000+ square foot house boasts six bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and 15 total rooms. According to the assessor’s database, it’s valued at about $1.4 million dollars.

Here’s a side view of the home, which lies along the path to Ye Old Burying Ground, the oldest cemetery in Lexington.
