We couldn’t find any tangible history on this darling home in downtown Ione, Calif. But we just had to stop for a quick picture.

According to the Ione assessor’s database, it was built in 1900. It feels like we never see one-story houses like this, and we are here for the small tower and the carved wooden details on the railing and eaves.

After we took this picture, a kind man stopped us to say he thought I was a statue from far away because I was so still with my posing. He showered me with compliments, and also looked like a real-life gold miner from yesteryear. Big hat, long white beard and suspenders with his shorts and button-up shirt. It was truly like taking a step back in time.
