William G. Hartwell House

Don’t get me wrong, we love the sun. But it’s a bummer when it completely blows out the cool house colors as well as my eyeballs.

Built in 1886 in Bedford, Mass., the William G. Hartwell was recently painted the most luscious shade of purple, which is hard to fully appreciate in the stark sunlight.

Anyhoo, Hartwell was a lumber and coal dealer, who may have done business out of his house, or from a lot further south of here. Hartwell also served as town assessor from 1908-1909 and “overseer of the poor” in 1909.
