As you can see from my smile, I could not be any happier about the Stephen Weston House in Acton, Mass. Built in 1836 by Weston (1783-1840) near the end of his life, this house was occupied by Weston’s widow, Unice Weston, until the 1870s. The Westons had lived next door for many years and Stephen had a store on the property.

The Westons’ daughter Mary E. married William Lothrop in 1845 and died at 21 years in 1848. Lothrop remained in Acton Centre. A later resident of this property was Luke Smith (1813-ca. 1898) who was the oldest Acton citizen to enlist during the Civil War. Smith, who was active in civic affairs, had a wheelwright shop.
