We always regretted not making it to the Spite House in Boston before we moved cross-country. So imagine our PURE JOY when we found out there was a great Spite House in Alameda, California.

A spite house is a structure built with the sole purpose of annoying or getting back at a neighbor or city.
It all popped off when the developing city of Alameda snatched a bunch of land from Charles Froling in order to build a street. Froling, meanwhile, had plans to construct his dream house in the inherited piece of land. So when he was left with a tiny strip of land, he was pissed and was like, Screw it, I’m still building.
The result: This 118-year-old house, which is 10 feet wide, 20 feet high and 54 feet long. According to Zillow, it has 2 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms and 1,136 square feet.
