One of the most internationally recognized symbols of California, the Golden Gate Bridge links San Francisco to Marin Coumty.

Construction began in 1933, with the suspension bridge finally opening in 1937. Likely the most photographed bridge in the world, it carries 40 million vehicles per year and also hosts pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

The bridge spans 4,200 feet and is 746 feet high. The Golden Gate Bridge is California Historical Landmark No. 974.
