Magnificent is the word that comes to mind when we first saw this house in Alameda, California, which was suggested to us by another IG house hunter.

It was designed in 1893 for Adam Heberer, superintendent of the Pacific Coast Borax Company, and only cost $4,500 to build.
According to Zillow, the massive home has 13 bedrooms, four bathrooms and nearly 5,000 square feet. The website estimates its current value at just under $3 million.
