We admit, it was very tempting to take down the plastic weather sheeting on the porch for our photo here. But that would’ve been a little extra, plus it’s not our property so anyway….
Charles O. Gage was a leading ice dealer in Arlington, Mass., from the 1860s through the 1880s, and this lot originally belonged to him.
Built around 1886-1890, this house was owned by Boston salesman Herbert W. Reed in 1898. He and his family lived here until at least the 1920s.

An old real estate listing says the house has wide pine floors, antique mantels above the fireplace, multiple staircases, period lighting and hardware, and built-ins. It has five bedrooms, three bathrooms and nearly 3,000 square feet. It sold in 2014 for $1.3 million.
