Mrs. Newell House

Dear Mrs. Newell House,

Hello, gorgeous! We’ve shared your lovely self before, but since we have a lot of new people walking with us, we wanted to let your red and pink delights shine once more for Valentine’s Day.

We remember spotting you from blocks away while walking in the Highlands Historic District of Falls River, Mass., and instantly being struck with Cupid’s arrow. The closer we got, we knew it was love at first sight. Your frilly, delicate 1900 high Victorian period Italian villa was precisely what we needed on this day.

You see, we had also visited the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast that day, as well as Borden’s later mansion, Maplecroft. You were just the palate-cleanser we needed after such an axe murder-y kind of day.

And, um, don’t let this creep you out, but … we stalked you a little bit online.

We couldn’t help but wonder if any remnants remain of the floral business that used to be there, or the carriage house that was converted into an optician’s office?

And, it turns out, you are every bit the hottie you were in 1977, when this photo was taken. Some things get finer with age.

Anyhoo, we hope whoever lives there is loving every moment in your five bedrooms and two bathrooms. Alas, it was not meant to be for us. We live and work too far away to pursue our crush on you. But know that we’ll never forget your beauty.

This gorgeous red and pink delight seemed like a perfect house for Valentine's Day.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

With love,

Walkies Through History
